Ace Ender, the lead guitarist and vocalist of the Emo/Alternative rock band The Early November and the core musician for the band I Can Make A Mess, released his second solo album in October 2025 named Posture Syndrome. Within this new release he continues to shine in the Alternative/Indie scene, showing off how he has progressed during his break.
Posture Syndrome is an acoustic, folk-driven emo album that's very stripped down. Throughout the album, Enders mostly just sings with dynamic, emotion-filled vocals, with a guitar that really fills the atmosphere. Throughout the LP, there's a constant feeling that resonates in every song, pulling the album together to create a very well put together idea. This album is definitely a more mature version of Enders compared to his work in The Early November and I Can Make A Mess and really shows that he has grown with his music and song writing while still holding true to himself.
The whole album follows a message of working through a low point in life. Almost Awake (5th track) and Almost Awake (last track) stress the difficulty he experienced of simply getting up everyday. . In Almost Awake,he sings about someone waking up and metaphorically starting to get better. The album follows this journey and struggle until Wide Awake - lyrically similar to Almost Awake- with the last line “I’m wide awake,” telling the listener that he has made it. This general concept shows up in other tracks through the ideas of wanting to escape troubles and improve overall.
Some of the best tracks include Alaska and Heavy. Alaska is more upbeat, but is contrasted with lyrics about wanting to get away from mistakes and problems. The idea is wanting to escape his problems by going out and living in the wilderness."I've been thinking that it's time to get out of town, hide up in Alaska, and live off the land somehow.” The song Heavy covers a very similar topic following the message of the album. Heavy uses minimal lyrics, repeating them over and over. “It’s too late now to let it go, too late now because you’re on your own, carrying around his heart of stone,” really emphasizing the troubled person trying to get through life. It's all about someone dealing with internal problems and not showing others or asking for help.
Ace Enders has transformed through the years, but still sticks to his roots. This album really shows that with mature ideas behind the songs but still his style and sound resonating throughout the release. This album is a very intriguing comeback from his break and encouraging look towards future releases. On a scale of 1 - 10 this album sits strongly at a 7.9 for its deep meaning and rich sounds and songwriting.
